A Big Gun For An Invisible Enemy – Shooting Dinosaurs

There’s my boy.  Grande.  Big toy gun in hand.  Shooting imaginary dinosaurs.  That’s my boy.  Courageous.  Confident and brave.  He knows his aim won’t fail when it comes to those big T-Rexs, Triceratops, and Spinosauruses.  They don’t stand a chance.  He’s in position.  Standing high on a chair.  Observing from above.  Not missing a thing.

How does he know he’ll make it through that dinosaur attack?  He knows he will because he has the right tool.  That big gun is the perfect weapon to defeat those imaginary foes.  Could there possibly be any better way to fight imaginary dinosaurs than a four year old with a toy gun?

What do you fight with?  We have an invisible enemy to.  But ours isn’t imaginary.  Although he’s unseen he’s real.  And a toy gun won’t do us any good.  We need something real.  We need something big.  And it has to be the right weapon.  So we can be strong and courageous.  So we can remain cool and collected when all hell breaks loose.

We need the weapon Jesus had.  When he was confronted by the enemy in the desert.  We need scripture.  We need the word of God.  We need the truth to extinguish the lies.  And when we know that truth and make it a part of who we are we can stand tall, defend our families, our homes, our city, our nation, and our world against that invisible foe.

“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6

When besieged, I’m calm as a baby. When all hell breaks loose, I’m collected and cool.

Psalm 27:3

Love the title. And as a father of a four-year-old boy and a three-year-old boy, I really love it. I want to spend my adventure armed with Scripture, too. Good words and great perspective here.

Of course I had to click over from Michelle’s when I saw the title of this post. Love how you tied big fun with a big message.

Amen, Christy! We need to put on our armor every morning, Eph 6, before we get out of bed. If God is for us, who can stand against us? Blessings on your family!
