Empty – Full

The table was set.  The food prepared.  Extra chairs in place.  Ready.  Empty chairs waiting for us.  Waiting for family to gather.

Empty.

And gather we did.  We filled our plates.  Filled our cups.  We filled the chairs.  Gave thanks and filled our stomachs.

Full

The table was prepared.  The food was delicious.  There was a chair for each of us.  But if we had refused to sit and eat it would have been pointless.  The abundance would have been wasted and we would have been hungry.

The Lord has prepared a table for us much like the one set for my family yesterday.  A table that offers to fill all our needs.  A table of abundance.  A table of goodness.  A table of wisdom.  A table of blessing.

Will you sit and be filled or will your seat and soul remain empty?

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

Psalm 23:5
