My dad texted me a picture of some tortillas on his griddle. It was obvious that they were store bought so I had to text him the picture above of what my mother-in-law was making from scratch.
If it was a competition to see who’s griddle had something yummier on it, I won. He called me back laughing and we joked about it.
Looking through my pictures what came to mind though was how easy it is to fall into competition. Even when they really have no significance. It’s easy to compare ourselves with others or feel like we’re in a competition, when what we should be doing is working together, celebrating each other’s accomplishments, and encouraging each other in our strengths.
Sounds good right?
Yeah, let’s do that instead.
Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others.
Galatians 6:4
That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.

Great thoughts today! I love Galatians charge "don't be impress with yourself." I needed that.
